Privacy should be easy to understand. This policy explains what PinRemi handles, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
About this policy
This policy covers the PinRemi app, its account and reminder services, and this privacy page. PinRemi lets you save location-based reminders, schedule time-based reminders and share supported reminders with connected people.
Operator / data controller: NEWOTE. Postal address: [to be confirmed]. For privacy enquiries, contact support@newote.com.
What information we handle
- Account and profile
- Username, display name, selected avatar, recovery or verification email where provided, password hash, account preferences, household membership and role. Guardian consent records and an age band may be stored for child accounts.
- Places and reminders
- Saved coordinates, radius, address or place label, reminder text, selected recipient, notification type, dates, status and reminder actions.
- Location and reminder events
- Device location is used to check saved places. Minimal trigger records can include the reminder and user identifiers, event identifier, entry transition and time.
- Device and service information
- Session and device identifiers, push notification tokens, permission and notification preferences, security records, and technical diagnostics. Services receiving network requests may process IP addresses and connection information.
- Payments, analytics and advertising
- Google Play purchase tokens and subscription status; eligible analytics events, crash reports and advertising signals, depending on account type, consent and enabled services. Google Play processes payment details.
- Support messages
- Information you choose to include when contacting support. Please avoid sending passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
PinRemi does not require access to your phone’s contact book, SMS messages or call history to create reminders.
Location & background use
PinRemi accesses location in the background to detect arrival at your saved reminder locations and deliver reminders even when the app is closed or not in use.
With your permission, PinRemi uses Android location services and native monitoring to compare your device’s position with saved reminder areas. Location also helps centre the map and place a pin at your current position. Background monitoring may request repeated location updates; it is not limited to the moments when you open the app.
The reminder service uses current location fixes on the device rather than uploading a continuous trail of GPS samples to the PinRemi backend. Saved pin coordinates are stored by the service. When a reminder triggers, its event and time may be recorded. This can reveal that you entered a saved area, even though a live GPS position is not included in the trigger event.
Map tiles and place searches are provided by MapTiler. Requests can reveal the map area being viewed, search text and network information to that provider. Android and Google location services also process information under their own settings and policies.
You can change precise or background location access in Android Settings. Disabling access may prevent location reminders from working, especially while the app is closed. Notification and full-screen alert permissions control how supported alerts appear.
Why we use information
- Provide the service: create accounts, save and synchronise reminders, manage household connections and deliver alerts.
- Protect accounts: verify access, recover passwords, prevent abuse and investigate security issues.
- Manage subscriptions: verify purchases and apply the correct plan features.
- Maintain and improve the app: diagnose failures and, where enabled and permitted, understand usage.
- Support advertising choices: show ads to eligible accounts and apply applicable consent settings.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, core account and reminder processing is necessary to provide the requested service; security and essential troubleshooting may rely on legitimate interests; optional processing may rely on consent; and certain records may be retained to meet legal obligations. The publisher must confirm the applicable basis for each production analytics and advertising service before this draft is published.
Information needed to sign in or deliver a reminder is necessary for those features. Optional profile details and permissions can be withheld, although related features may then be unavailable.
Who helps run PinRemi
Information is processed by providers supporting hosting, email delivery, maps, notifications, diagnostics, billing and eligible advertising:
- Hosting and email providers: operate the backend, database and account emails.
- Google / Firebase: push notification routing, configured crash diagnostics and permitted analytics.
- Google Play: purchases and subscription verification.
- Google AdMob and UMP: ads and consent management for eligible free adult owner accounts. Child, partner and paid accounts are excluded from ad initialisation in the app.
- MapTiler: map tiles and place search.
See Google’s Privacy Policy and MapTiler’s Privacy Policy for their practices. The final publisher policy must identify the hosting/email arrangements and confirm production SDK settings.
Information may also be disclosed where legally required, to respond to valid legal requests or to protect users and the service.
Children’s accounts
Supported child accounts are connected through a household owner acting as a parent, guardian or authorised adult. The service records the relevant consent and age-band information. Child accounts do not receive ads and cannot enable analytics through their account preferences.
Family safety zones must be visible to the child; PinRemi is not designed for hidden monitoring. A parent or guardian can contact support about a child’s information or request its deletion. If you believe a child’s account was created without appropriate authority, contact us.
The publisher must verify age eligibility, consent procedures and any child-related diagnostics against the countries and audiences in which the app is offered before publication.
Retention & account deletion
Account information and saved reminders are kept to provide the service while the account and relevant records remain in use. Archiving a reminder is not the same as deleting its data. Current location samples used for local arrival checks are not maintained as a backend route history.
You can use the account deletion controls in PinRemi or email support@newote.com to request account deletion. Include your username or account email, but never your password. Identity verification may be required.
Deleting a connected account revokes access and deletes or anonymises related account information without deleting the owner’s household. Deleting the owner account affects the whole household. Related reminders may be archived or sanitised, with personal text removed and coordinates cleared as part of account deletion.
Limited billing, fraud-prevention, security or legal records may need to remain after deletion. Backup copies may remain until their scheduled replacement. Before publication, the publisher must specify the actual retention periods or criteria for these records, trigger logs, diagnostics and backups, and the deletion completion timeframe.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. Review any active subscription separately in Google Play.
Your choices & privacy rights
You can edit available profile settings, manage reminders, change Android permissions, adjust notification visibility, and use available analytics or advertising privacy controls. Withdrawing optional consent does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a portable copy of, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise an applicable right; we may need to verify your identity.
Security & international processing
The app uses measures such as password hashing, access controls and protected device storage for sensitive session information. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
Providers may process information outside your country. The publisher must confirm the relevant processing locations and any required international-transfer safeguards before this policy is finalised. Contact support for information about the arrangements applicable to your data.
A simple privacy page
This page does not include advertising, analytics scripts, external fonts or cookie-based tracking. Its small navigation script runs locally in your browser. The hosting server may still process ordinary request information, such as IP address and browser details, to serve and protect the website.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when PinRemi’s features or data practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law, including renewed consent where necessary.
